On a weekly basis, we have students with suicidal ideation and self-harming behaviors coming to Student Services for support. The suicide prevention documentary we purchased with the grant funding we received will be shown to many of these students who are desperately needing to hear real-life stories of overcoming hopelessness.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) providing social-emotional support in the school setting, this micro-grant is vital in equipping sixth-grade students with essential coping skills to navigate challenges of home, school, and that of transitioning to middle school. By fostering these skills, we create a supportive environment where students can thrive academically and emotionally, building resilience and ensuring a successful future.

The SEL4CA grant funds allowed our school to purchase an SEL curriculum that can be delivered to whole classes and small groups. Social-emotional learning is a high area of need in our school, and without the SEL4CA grant, we would not have been able to get the resources we need to provide direct SEL instruction to our students.
