“For the past five years, I’ve hoped to implement a research-based, yearlong SEL curriculum for my students at the elementary level. This grant has provided the opportunity to make that goal a reality. With a structured program in place, I’ve been able to deliver consistent weekly counseling lessons that have strengthened student engagement, helped create a sense of community and belonging, and supported meaningful skill development.
The curriculum has also helped me build rapport and positive relationships with the students and teachers, while giving them the tools to enhance their social and emotional growth. The students have loved the weekly lessons, the partner participation and the fun activities that are built into each lesson plan. They look forward to my visit each week and I am so grateful to have this opportunity to finally implement a classroom curriculum with fidelity!”
