“We went around asking our students about what the garden has meant to them, and here are a couple of quotes that sum it up for them:
2nd Grade student: “It helps me feel calm and peaceful.”
3rd Grade student: “I love coming to the garden because it is fun and you can pick plants to give to someone if they are sad.”
4th Grade student: “It reminds me of my grandma, and her symbol is a white moth, and they are always here in the garden.”
We are thrilled and incredibly thankful for this grant! It means we can buy so much more to help our garden flourish. We have purchased umbrellas for the garden, which has allowed us to let students eat in the garden at lunch, and it has given students time to ground themselves before heading back into class. Our PTA has shared that parents are impressed with the work we have put into the space and have offered to volunteer during our lunchtime activities.
We are excited to see more student and parent volunteers in the garden.”
