“So far this school year, I have used some of the funds received from my SEL4CA grant to purchase books and games for use with individuals and groups. Specifically, I have used the book Speak Up and Get Along! to help students deal with and address unkind comments from peers, and I have done rotations with our youngest students (TK – 4 year olds) focusing on identifying feelings using “Feelings and Dealings” and “A Little Spot – Get to Know Me” cards.
I am just starting with a couple of 4th and 5th grade groups, and I plan to use the “Mad Dragon” and “Growth/Fixed Mindset” card games with them. This grant has greatly expanded the arsenal of tools I have to support my students. We know that children learn best through play, and these items are making our sessions together fun and educational!”
