San Ramon High Schools to Open Emotional Wellness Centers

Beginning with the 2020-21 school year, high school students in San Ramon will have a new refuge at school.

The purpose of the district’s new Wellness Centers is to provide an additional safe place where students can go during the school day to receive support or to just take a break when they feel pressure, stress or anxiety, according to the district. The centers at California High School and Dougherty Valley High School will be staffed with counselors and social workers; additional support will be determined based on the unique needs of the individual sites.

The centers were a recommendation from the district’s Mental Wellness Task Force. Local realtor office Keller Williams is pitching in their support, including paint and furniture for the new centers.
