SEL Day 2022 Recap

In addition to Governor Newsom’s proclamation, we also received support for SEL Day on the national level. In an open letter, President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, officially recognized SEL Day by saying. “We affirm the need to give schools, families, and communities the resources required to enhance social-emotional learning.”

Additional Highlights of the Day Include:

  • SEL4CA and National University teamed up to present the online event, “Discover the True Value of Learning from Others.” Presenters included SEL4CA steering committee member Dr. Jacqueline Sanderlin and Kim Mitchell, Senior Vice President for Military and Government Affairs, National University System. This webinar will be available on demand at Inspire Teaching & Learning.
  • SEL4CA sponsored a Books by Members Giveaway event, featuring member-authors.
  • SEL4CA co-sponsored the parent-focused SEL Day event produced by EQuip Our Kids! Several members from SEL4CA and SEL4US participated as panelists. Watch sessions.
  • Cut the Jargon: What We Actually Want for All Students: CASEL Slide Deck and Webinar

On social media, SEL Day drew more than 7 million views and 33,000 likes from over 6,000 mentions.The #SELDAY hashtag trended on Twitter for 5 hours on March 11th.
