From later start times for older students to expanded transitional kindergarten, changes await students and teachers in this new school year.
High school students across California will get a little extra sleep thanks to a new state law that calls for later start times in secondary schools. The new law requires middle schools to start no earlier than 8 a.m. and high schools no sooner than 8:30 a.m.
That’s just one of the changes taking place in Orange County schools, where half of the districts will welcome students in the 2022-23 year the week of Aug. 15. Other local schools either have already started or will open their doors by September.
