Presidential Proclamation

For the 2nd year, President Biden & Dr. Jill Biden honor #SELDay:

“Jill and I send our warmest greetings to all those celebrating International Social and Emotional Learning Day. As I often say, our children are the kite strings that keep our national ambitions aloft—if we want the to reach their full potential, they must have a strong social and emotional foundation.

With social and emotional learning (#SEL), our students get the resources and support they need to learn, make good decisions, build community, and achieve their goals.”

Bipartisan Senate Resolution

The U.S. Senate introduced a resolution designating March 6-10, 2023, as ‘‘National Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Week’’ to recognize the critical role SEL plays in supporting the academic success and overall well-being of students, educators, and families. The resolution was introduced by Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Illinois).

Nine State Proclamations

Governors in six total states—Colorado, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Wisconsin—declared March 10, 2023 SEL Day. In addition, multiple cities and school boards issued proclamations and resolutions. We appreciate the advocates that helped bring this attention to SEL in their states!
